Immersion Retreat
Ecology of Awakening supports the sustained and embodied shift necessary to create resilient and thriving communities for future generations. The Immersion Retreat is an invitation to shift our center of gravity: out of what is conditioned and separate, into what is ever-evolving and connected with all life. It is an opportunity to move through the fear, isolation and division so widespread during this time in order to root in love, community and connection, with sincere regard for each other and our world.
For five days we live in close relation with the land, in the rolling coastal hills of Occidental, marked by coastal prairie meadows, old-growth fir, oak woodlands and a luscious waterfall and swimming hole. The primary teacher will be the vibrant ecosystem with its sensuous hills, fir forests, coyotes and hawks, as well as the unique group of people who come together. In opening to all that seeks to awaken us, we learn to listen and respond to the way life evokes us and open to the mysterious and fertile meeting ground where our own creativity and the larger unfolding meet. It is here where we might discover the way our unique expression fits into the deep needs of our time.
Our journey includes whole 'village' time, focused small group sessions, solo time on the land and simultaneous attention to the creative spaces that inform us. We will draw from cosmology, nature-based processes, listening meditation, inner and outer tracking, dream-work, bird language, council, ceremony and other time-tested processes that usher us towards dissolving our borders and discovering our deepest belonging. Through the impassioned lens of biologist and naturalist Brock Dolman, we will deepen into what it is to become more 'life literate' by immersing ourselves in the micro and macro perspective of our place within the larger Earth community.
Note: This is an all-camping retreat. We will provide a list of equipment upon enrollment and can assist you with where to buy or borrow equipment if needed. Our basecamp is within walking distance from cars. You do not need to be in top physical shape to attend!
